White Fox News Host Can’t Understand Why Obama Didn’t Endorse Black Republican
HuffPost
“I can’t square this,” the host on the conservative channel said of Barack Obama’s endorsement of a Democrat over a Black Republican.
Fox News host Charles Hurt on Tuesday said he can’t fathom why Democratic ex-President Barack Obama didn’t endorse the Black Republican nominee for governor in Virginia to “help out.” (Watch the video below.)
Hurt, who is white, was talking about Winsome Earle-Sears, the GOP lieutenant governor who’s running against Democratic Rep. Abigail Spanberger, whom Obama did endorse.
Earl-Seares has backed President Donald Trump’s federal job cuts, opposed abortion rights, and mimicked Trump’s anti-trans messaging in ads. That should provide clues as to why Obama wouldn’t throw his support her way (in addition to being in the opposing party).
But Hurt and Earle-Sears still expressed bewilderment at Obama’s stance.
“Last year at this time, he told everybody to vote for the Black woman,” she said, referring to Kamala Harris. “Well, Charlie, here I am. Here I am, and now he’s singing a different tune. Hypocrisy all the way.”
