
What's open and closed in Thunder Bay this holiday season

The holiday season has arrived in Thunder Bay, and that means reduced hours, or closures, for businesses, city offices, and other amenities.
Here's a look at some of the changes.
Thunder Bay City Hall will close at noon on Christmas Eve, and remain closed until Jan. 5.
Thunder Bay Transit buses will operate on holiday schedules on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
The transit administration office will be closed from noon on Christmas Eve until 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 5.
The board's offices will close at noon on Christmas and New Year's eves, and will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The city's Solid Waste and Recycling Facility will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day.
Some changes are coming to residential waste collection during the holidays. A full list of the changes can be found on the city's website.
All library branches will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
The Brodie and County Park libraries will be closed from Christmas Day to Jan. 2.
However, the Mary JL Black and Waverley libraries will be open:
All branches will be closed on New Year's Day, and resume regular hours on Jan. 2.
The Carrick Park, North End, West End, West Thunder, and James Street Playfield rinks will be open, or supervised, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
All other rinks will be closed or unsupervised from Dec. 24 to 26, and on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
