A woman was brutally assaulted and humiliated by the relatives of her brother-in-law, with whom she allegedly had a love affair, in Chuchuda, Hooghly.
A woman was brutally assaulted and humiliated by the relatives of her brother-in-law, with whom she allegedly had a love affair, in Chuchuda, Hooghly.
The relatives got enraged when the brother-in-law committed suicide five days ago after the woman refused to be in a relationship with him.
His family members came to the victim’s house and dragged her out of her home. They tore her clothes, shaved her head and thrashed her. In the barbaric act, the relatives also sprinkled chilli powder all over the victim’s body.
When the woman started shouting in pain, the neighbours called the police.
The police reached the spot and rescued the victim and took her to the hospital for treatment, after which a written complaint was filed by the victim.
An investigation has been initiated in the case and the search for the accused is going on.
