
West Bengal: 7 people die in Birbhum after houses set afire for revenge

Seven people were killed in West Bengal's Birbhum district after their houses were set on fire to exact revenge over a political murder.
Seven people from West Bengal’s Birbhum district were killed in a fire early on Tuesday. Local sources said they were set on fire to avenge the murder of a Trinamool Congress leader.
Unidentified assailants hurled crude bombs at TMC's panchayat leader, Bhadu Pradhan, in Birbhum's Rampurhat on Monday.

The incident occurred in the Rampurhat area of Birbhum. A group of miscreants allegedly locked up five houses with the residents inside and set them on fire.
Birbhum district magistrate, fire officials, and the local police rushed to the spot after the incident.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
