Weather Updates LIVE: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya; thunderstorm expected in eastern region
India Today
Heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India and Assam and Meghalaya have been put on alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms along with lightning for the eastern region for the next three days.
India is witnessing the third dry of the southwest monsoon this season and the total rainfall across the country is deficient by eight per cent. The country is on course to witness a normal monsoon, which will not only recharge the main reservoirs but is also important for the kharif season. However, the intermittent dry patches and the deficient rainfall or floods remain a worrying concern despite the normal average remaining in the normal zone. In its latest weather bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall for Assam and Meghalaya on Wednesday. The weather department has also predicted that rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till August 27.More Related News
