Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray said that the world is in a state of climate emergency. “We need green financing to come into an industrial powerhouse like India. We need more green zones if we need to move ahead,” he said, speaking at the India Global Forum, UK 2021.He also spoke about the Maharashtra government’s flagship project ‘Majhi Vasundhara’ that focuses on reducing carbon footprint. “We planted 2.2 million trees in eight months and generated 10,663 tonnes of compost. We collaborated with UNICEF to prepare a school syllabus on climate change that will soon be introduced,” he said. He added that Maharashtra is also working hard on renewable energy.
