A war of words has erupted between Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over ED raids on Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's relatives.
The Enforcement Directorate's (ED) crackdown on the Punjab mining mafia has become a flashpoint between the opposition Aam Aadmi Party and the ruling Congress.
On Monday, Raghav Chadha and other Aam Aadmi Party leaders met with Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit and demanded that an FIR be filed against Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
"During ED raids, crores of rupees and sensational documents were seized from the relatives of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi. We demand a more thorough and unbiased investigation into the matter," Raghav Chadha said.
According to the AAP memorandum, the raids resulted in the seizure of Rs 10 crore in currency, a Rolex watch, Rs 22 lakh in gold, expensive vehicles, Rs 54 crore in bank liabilities, and real estate registries from Channi's nephew's house.

Chadha stated that illegal sand is being excavated alongside forest land in the village of Jindapur in the chief minister's Assembly constituency, Sri Chamkaur Sahib. However, the Punjab CM has taken no action.
He further said that former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh raised the issue with Congress National President Sonia Gandhi, who promoted Charanjit Singh Channi to the position of Chief Minister rather than taking action against him.
