VIT chancellor conferred honorary doctorate

VIT Founder G. Viswanathan honored with honorary doctorate by RIT for STEM education leadership and philanthropy.
The Founder and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), G. Viswanathan, was conferred with an honorary doctorate by Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), New York, recently.
According to a press release, David C. Munson, president, Prabu David, provost and senior vice president, Rochester Institute of Technology (Academic Affairs), honoured Mr. Viswanathan with the honorary doctorate towards his vision and leadership in the expansion of Science, Technology, Engineering & Management (STEM) education across India and in recognition of his dedication towards supporting the underprivileged.
Previously, the VIT chancellor was honoured with an honorary doctorate by West Virginia University in 2009 and by the State University of New York, Binghamton University in 2024 in addition to being conferred a doctorate by St. Xaviers University, Kolkata, in the year 2025.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Viswanathan thanked RIT for conferring the doctorate on him. On the occasion, Sankar Viswanathan and Sekar Viswanathan, vice-presidents of VIT, were present, the release said.
