Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath experienced Japan’s cutting-edge high-speed Linear Maglev train in Yamanashi Prefecture on the final day of his visit. The train, which can reach speeds of up to 600 kmph, runs using magnetic levitation technology and travels at around 500 kmph during operations. In comparison, Japan’s current bullet trains operate at speeds of nearly 300 kmph.
The Chief Minister described the ride as thrilling, as the Linear Maglev virtually “floats” on magnetic force while racing at extraordinary speed. India Today journalist Manjeet Negi also travelled with the UP CM on the train. The train highlighted Japan’s advanced transportation infrastructure and innovation in mobility.
Earlier, Adityanath visited a green hydrogen energy plant in Yamanashi, where he was briefed on technology that produces hydrogen and electricity from water. He also explored facilities related to hydrogen energy, robotics, and high-speed rail systems in the region.
During his tour, the Chief Minister received an enthusiastic welcome from members of the Indian community and Japanese locals. In Tokyo, he met Sadhvi Tulsi, who is engaged in promoting Hindu and Jain traditions in Japan. A young child greeted him by chanting Sanskrit verses and touching his feet, a gesture that visibly pleased the Chief Minister. He later distributed chocolates as prasad among devotees.
In Yamanashi, schoolchildren waving Indian and Japanese flags welcomed Adityanath warmly. Local residents also presented him with a special painting as a token of respect.
He then posted on X, "Interacted with young students in Yamanashi, Japan, and was delighted to witness their warmth, discipline and joyful enthusiasm. Their innocent affection and curiosity reflect the deep cultural connect between our two nations." Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath interacted with school children.
