A viral video allegedly showing portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Maharani Padmini being used as gender signage on washroom entrance points at a private banquet hall in Haryana's Faridabad has stirred a major controversy.
Since surfacing on social media, the clip has gained traction rapidly. The man recording the video is heard saying off-camera that it is a scene from the Milan banquet hall in Sikri.
The visuals sparked widespread backlash, with users demanding action against the establishment's proprietor for disrespecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a 17th-century Maratha king who is venerated as a symbol of valour across India.
Some accounts on X claimed that the reception hall is linked to an MLA of Haryana's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
As the controversy continued to grow, the owner of the said property issued a statement and denied that the banquet hall shown in the viral video belongs to him.
Speaking to India Today over the phone, Tiparchand, the owner of Milan Banquet Hall in Sikri and the brother of a BJP legislator, alleged that the claims accompanying the controversial video were misleading and were being spread to tarnish his reputation.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
