Victim lay in blood with 48 injuries: No bail to Mumbai murder accused

The prosecution’s case is that a scuffle took place between the victim and the accused, who allegedly brutally assaulted the girl and dragged her from the 8th floor to the 2nd floor, down the building’s staircase.
The Bombay High Court refused to grant bail to Shree Jogdhankar, the accused in the murder of Jhanvi Kukreja. The girl, then 19, was found dead in a building in Mumbai’s Khar area on new year’s eve in 2021.
“All the witnesses are close friends of Shree Jogdhankar and there is every possibility that he would tamper with the prosecution evidence and pressurize the prosecution witnesses,” the court said, denying bail.
“A new year brings a chance to create dreams. A new year stands before us like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. However, the new year of 2021 landed Jogdhankar, a young boy of 21 years, into a quagmire,” Justice Bharti Dangre said.
The court looked through the material compiled on the charge-sheet and said, “Considering the gravity of the accusations faced by him, no case is made out for releasing Jogdhankar on bail. The court had rejected bail last week but it is now that the order has been made available.”
Shree Jogdhankar was accused of killing Janhvi Kukreja at a New Year’s eve party in suburban Khar.
The bench said that the circumstances relied upon by the prosecution connected Jogdhankar with the crime and that they “prima facie point to his guilt”.
“He (Jogdhankar) is accused of murdering his close friend Janhvi and in this act, it is alleged that he was assisted by another close friend,” the judge noted.
