Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan on Wednesday (December 25, 2024) urged the Tamil Nadu Transport department to take steps to conclude the negotiations with the transport trade unions smoothly and implement the 15th wage revision agreement at the earliest.
In a statement, Mr. Vasan said the State government should give utmost importance to the grievances of transport workers. After several rounds of talks spanning 16 months, the Transport department has not yet finalised the 15th wage revision agreement of the transport trade unions. Instead of holding talks with the representatives of the trade unions separately, the State government should bring them all together and finalise the deal, he added.

The Union and State governments provided support in several ways to the needy people, but private institutions should also extend help, especially to those requiring medical assistance, said C.P. Rajkumar, Managing Director, Nalam Multispeciality Hospital, here on Saturday. Speaking at a function to honour Inspector General of Police V. Balakrishnan and neurologist S. Meenakshisundaram with C. Palaniappan Memorial Award for their contribution to society and Nalam Kappom medical adoption of Type-1 diabetic children, he said the governments implemented numerous welfare programmes, but the timely help by a private hospital or a doctor in the neighbourhood to the people in need would go a long way in safeguarding their lives.
