Valuables worth Rs 10 lakh stolen from parked cars in Gurugram

Cash and jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh was stolen from two different cars in the city. Police said that the accused first broke the windowpanes of the cars and then fled away with the valuables kept inside the cars.
After a brief interval, the ‘thak thak’ gang has once again become active in Gurugram. The gang notorious for stealing valuables from parked vehicles in markets and streets was majorly functioning in 2018 but has once again become active in the past three months.
Till now, police have arrested several members of the gang.
However, in a recent incident, cash and jewellery worth around Rs 10 lakh was stolen from two different cars in the city.
Police said that the gang first broke the windowpanes of the cars and then fled away with the valuables kept inside the cars.
According to a report published in the Times of India (TOI), Rohit Sharma, a resident of Aravalli Homes in Sohna, was the latest target of the gang. It was on Sunday when he went shopping with his family to Sadar Bazaar in his Maruti Ciaz car.
However, after returning, they found the car's rear window broken and the door open, following which they found that two trolley bags, containing new clothes, a laptop, a mobile phone and gold jewellery worth around Rs 5 lakh were stolen. Valuables worth Rs 6-7 lakh were stolen.
Similarly, another victim identified as Chetan Singh had gone to Central Plaza Mall with his wife on Sunday. He also parked his car in front of the mall only to return to a broken windowpane of his car.
