
Vaccine shortage in J&K: Phase 3 of Covid-19 vaccination drive will not start from May 1

The Jammu and Kashmir administration has said the Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group will not begin from May 1 due to a shortage in vaccine doses.
Amid a shortage of Covid-19 vaccine doses, the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday said the third phase of the inoculation drive that will cover people in the 18-45 age group will not begin from May 1 in the Union Territory. The administration has placed an order of 1.24 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses, among the highest in the country, to cover the entire population in the 18-45 age group. However, vaccines are expected to be back in stock from May 20. “While the registration for vaccination of eligible persons in the age group 18-45 has been opened on CoWIN platform, the actual vaccination will not begin from May 1. It will begin from a date to be announced later once the vaccine supply is established," the Department of Information and Public Relations said on Twitter.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
