
Uttarakhand Police file case against 21 accused in service commission recruitment scam

The Uttarakhand Police on Saturday filed a case against 21 accused in the alleged paper leak scam of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (UKSSSC).
The Uttarakhand Police, under the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, registered a case against 21 accused in the alleged paper leak scam of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (UKSSSC) on Saturday.
Director General of Police Ashok Kumar directed the Special Task Force (STF) investigating the case to crack down on the accused and to take action on the illegal properties acquired by them.
Based on the report by the task force, the Raipur police in Uttarakhand registered a case against the 21 accused in the case under the Gangster Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. With the registration of the case, authorities can soon initiate legal proceedings to confiscate the illegal movable and immovable property of the accused.
The task force had so far arrested 15 people accused in the paper leak scam. Moreover, 50 candidates have also been arrested. They appeared in the graduation level examination on December 4 and 5, 2021 using the leaked paper.
About 160,000 candidates appeared for the exam and 916 candidates were selected.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
