The Uttar Pradesh Police has transferred over 500 cops after the recent hooch tragedies, as the death toll in the second case rose to nine.
The Uttar Pradesh Police has transferred over 500 cops after the recent hooch tragedies, an official said on Friday as the death toll in the second case rose to nine. Speaking to PTI, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kalanidhi Naithani, said more than 540 police personnel who were posted at the same police station for over two years have been transferred. He said 148 of them have been shunted out of the district. He added that five police inspectors, including two station house officers, and a circle officer have been suspended for suspected links with the liquor mafia.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
