The Uttar Pradesh government directed all the schools, irrespective of the Board they are affiliated to, not to hike the fees for the academic session 2021-22 in the interest of the students and parents.

This was announced by the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Dinesh Sharma on Thursday. A mandate to this effect has also been issued by the state government. Dr. Sharma said, 'many families have been financially affected due to COVID-19. Schools are shut down but online class continues. This is a small effort made by the state government in order to provide relief to parents who have suffered pay cuts or had low business due to the pandemic lockdown and are facing problems paying school fees.' A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
