The fallout of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls is being felt in Bihar, as BJP legislators in the state sought the resignation of Animal Husbandry Minister Mukesh Sahani.
Mukesh Sahani, the national president of the Vikassheel Insaan Party and a minister in the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, fought the UP Assembly elections against the BJP, but not a single candidate fielded by his party won. The party had contested 53 seats in UP but failed to win even one.
After the announcement of election results in UP on Thursday, Bihar BJP leaders rounded on Sahani and demanded his resignation from the post he holds in the Bihar cabinet. The saffron party is an ally in the JD(U)-led coalition government in the state.
Bihar BJP MLA Harishankar Thakur said VIP is finished after contesting and losing in the Uttar Pradesh elections, and that Sahani should quit the post of minister on moral grounds.
“He went to become a big ‘neta’ in Uttar Pradesh, he should resign from the post of minister in Bihar government. He should resign as minister on moral grounds,” said Harishankar Thakur.
