Days after the Aam Aadmi Party government announced unlock measures in Delhi, overcrowding at markets has become a cause of worry as people could be seen flouting Covid-appropriate norms such as wearing masks or maintaining social distance. India Today team on Saturday morning visited East Delhi's biggest fruit and vegetable market at Ghazipur Mandi and was met with excuses from offenders. While some people were not wearing masks, others opted to put them on as soon as they saw the camera. Agencies and civil defence teams were on the ground to challan those not following Covid-appropriate behavior. However, the city's malls wear a deserted look after six days of unlock. Mahendra Singh, fire and safety officer of V3S Mall located in East Delhi, said with the opening of the markets, the average footfall in the malls has decreased. Even as malls see small crowds in the evening, all Covid-related rules and regulations are being followed, he said.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
