Union Budget 2026 announces development of mountain, turtle, and birdwatching trails across multiple Indian states for eco-tourism.
Presenting the Union Budget at the Parliament for the financial year 2026-27, Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman announced the development of mountain trails, turtle trails and birdwatching trails.
During her speech, she said, “India has the potential and opportunity to offer world-class trekking and hiking experience. We will develop ecologically sustainable mountain trails in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu Kashmir, Arakku Valley (Andhra Pradesh) in the Eastern Ghats and Podhigai Malai (Tamil Nadu - Kerala) in the Western Ghats.”

Further, Ms. Sitharaman announced the establishment of turtle trails along key nesting sites in the coastal areas of Odisha, Karnataka and Kerala.
Three birdwatching trails along the Pulicat Lake in Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border will be developed, stated the Union Finance Minister.
