In a press note, the police said as many as 120 defective silencers, used in motorcycles to create more sound, were seized by the Manipal police. They were seized during the special vehicle checking drive held for the last six months. The police registered 120 cases and collected ₹ 1.05 lakh as penalty.
On Saturday, under the supervision of Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, police used a bulldozer to destroy the seized silencers. Manipal Inspector Mahesh Prasad was present.
