TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's sister-in-law Maneka Gambhir reached the ED's Kolkata office at 12.30 am on Monday due to a 'typo' in the notice served to her.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had to issue a fresh summons to Maneka Gambhir, sister-in-law of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, after she reached the probe agency's Kolkata office at 12.30 am on Monday due to a typo in the previous notice.
The ED had stopped Maneka Gambhir at the Kolkata airport from flying abroad and handed over a summons to join the questioning in a money laundering case linked to an alleged coal pilferage case of West Bengal.
However, the notice mentioned the reporting time to be 12.30 am on Monday, September 12.
Standing outside the closed ED office post midnight, Maneka Gambhir posed with the probe agency's notice issued to her which mentioned the reporting time to be 12.30 am. She left the spot after 20 minutes.
Later, the ED issued a fresh summons to Maneka Gambhir for 12.30 pm. She again appeared before the probe agency today.
Maneka Gambhir was earlier questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the coal scam case.
In August, the Calcutta High Court directed the ED to question Maneka Gambhir at its Kolkata office. The court had also stayed any coercive actions against her till the next date of hearing.
