Two more Ayyappa devotees die from burn injuries in Hubballi fire mishap, bringing total death toll to six.
Two more Ayyappa devotees, who were being treat for burn injuries following a fire mishap due to an alleged cylinder blast in Hubballi, died on Sunday (December 29, 2024).
Shankar Chavan (29) and Manjunath Waghmore (22) succumbed to their injuries, taking the toll to six in this incident.
The devotees who have died in the accident till now, are Lingaraj Beeranur (19), Nijalingappa Bepuri (58 years), Raju Mugeri (16 years) and Sanjay Savadatti (18 years).
They were among those injured in an accident at Achchavva colony in Sai Nagar at a temporary kitchen at the Swami Ayyappa tent on December 22. A case has been registered.

Although students from Tamil Nadu remain the leading recipients of educational loans across India, there has been a significant decline in the number of active loans they hold. The number of active education loan accounts decreased from 27.4 lakh accounts to about 20.1 lakh in the period. The fall can be mostly attributed to the fall in Tamil Nadu’s numbers.
