Telangana Government plans a ₹940 crore double-decker elevated corridor from Panama Godowns to Hayatnagar on the Vijayawada highway.
Telangana Government is actively engaged in the preparation of a report for developing a double-decker elevated corridor from Panama Godowns to Hayatnagar on the busy Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway.
The tentative cost of the project spanning 5.5 km is ₹940 crore, and the report is being submitted to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for in-principle approval, Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy told the Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad on Tuesday (March 24, 2026). The project was likely to be included in the MoRTH annual plan 2026-27, and work on preparing the detailed project report (DPR) would begin once it was included.
The Government had invited tenders for hybrid annuity model (HAM) roads worth ₹13,000 crore and another ₹6,000 crore would be spent on the Panchayat Raj roads. “The projects are conceived to make Telangana number one in the country in terms of road maintenance,” he said, replying to a query during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly. He said detailed project reports were under preparation and works would be launched before April end.
Earlier, Opposition members, particularly those from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), expressed concern over the absence of spending in tune with the proposed development and progress of the works at a snail’s pace.
“The Government’s answer shows only ₹122 crore, of over ₹16,000 crore proposed, was spent for road development. Why is this negligence and how many years these projects are likely to take at this pace?” BRS member K.P. Vivekanand asked.
Another member, D. Sudhir Reddy recalled the fast-paced road development during the BRS Government and expressed concern that roads were in a bad shape ever since the Congress Government took over. The BRS members also complained about the Government including the name of a leader who lost the elections on the official plaque of the road inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and said that said such violations reflected the Chief Minister’s focus on politics rather than following the protocol.
