Two-day conference on undergraduate research begins at IISER in Tirupati

National Conference for Undergraduate Research in Bioscience at IISER Tirupati inspires young scientists with presentations and collaborations.
The undergraduate science students got the first-ever opportunity to present and share their work with the scientific community at the macro level at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research in Bioscience (NCURB), that began at IISER’s Yerpedu campus here on Monday.
The event, conducted by the Indian Institute of Science Education Research’s (IISER Tirupati) Biology department, seeks to inspire young minds into research and innovation in the field of biology and its allied branches, including interdisciplinary areas. The students showcased their talent at the oral presentation and poster sessions during the two-day event.
IISER Tirupati Director Santanu Bhattacharya, in his inaugural address, called the conference a ‘game-changer’ for undergraduate research in India as it brought young researchers and mentors on a single platform to foster collaboration, promote knowledge sharing and inspire the next generation of biologists.
Noted researchers from reputed national institutions and industries like IISc Bangalore, TIFR Mumbai, inStem Bangalore, JNCASR Bangalore, Merck (USA) delivered thought-provoking addresses to the students.
With six guest speakers, 21 student talks and over 315 participants from leading research institutions across India, the two-day national conference was hailed as a ‘benchmark event’ in promoting research in biosciences.
