Twitter has flagged a controversial tweet by BJP's Sambit Patra as manipulated media. But what is Twitter's policy on detecting manipulated media?
After Twitter labelled a May 18 tweet by BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra as ‘manipulated media’, the social media platform has said that its policy against such tweets remain impartial and judicious. Earlier, the Congress party had shot a letter to Twitter headquarters, seeking actions against several top BJP leaders’ handles for spreading “forged toolkit document” on its platform. While Twitter did not divulge the methodology it used to determine the manipulation of the content posted by Sambit Patra, it said that it followed the standard synthetic and media policy.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
