Traffic signal causes hindrance to motorists at SRP Tools junction
The Hindu
SRP Tools Junction traffic issues addressed by Greater Chennai Traffic Police, highlighting Metro Rail project impact and safety concerns.
SRP Tools Junction at Taramani is where the traffic converges from Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Information Technology Corridor) and Taramani Link Road.
As the Metro Rail project is implemented on Rajiv Gandhi Salai, the Greater Chennai Traffic Police have disallowed vehicles proceeding to Velachery from the Tidel Park Junction from taking the Taramani Link Road. Instead, they have to proceed till YMCA, make a U-turn, and take Taramani Link Road.
Vehicles proceeding on Taramani Link Road towards Rajiv Gandhi Salai is allowed at Taramani Junction. But vehicles proceeding on both sides of Rajiv Gandhi Salai are facing hardship at SRP Tools Junction because of the presence of a traffic signal which has been shut down for the Metro Rail work being executed on the Information Technology Corridor. It should be shifted to a different location until the project gets over.

A traffic officer of the Greater Chennai Traffic Police says the matter has been brought to the knowledge of senior officials and steps will be taken to shift the signal when the Metro Rail work begins at the traffic junction.
Tambaram Eastern Bypass Road, which links Selaiyur with Vandalur, helps motorists avoid GST Road while going to Vandalur. However, they are inconvenienced by poor lighting, especially at the Mappedu-Vengambakkam Junction. Accidents are likely to occur as vehicles drive at a high speed. We request the Tambaram Police Commissionerate to install a high-mast light and barricades at the junction to prevent accidents and regulate the heavy traffic.
