
Trade union workers affiliated to Congress protest against leader VD Satheesan

Trade union wing of Congress party took out a protest march at Changanassery town against leader VD Satheesan, who had recently made a comment that the trade union was not a feeder organisation of his party.
The workers affiliated with the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) staged a protest in Changanacherry town on Friday against the statement made by opposition leader VD Satheesan, distancing the Congress party from its trade union.

The demonstration was held by labourers who are based at the Changanacherry market on Friday morning. They denounced Satheesan's remark and said they are not against Congress but against VD Satheesan's statement on trade unions.

INTUC state leader R Chandrasekharan told members to refrain from protesting against the Leader of Opposition.
"This is not the time to complain. We are with the Congress party and whatever happens should stay inside," he said.
Trade unions had protested against a private television channel after one of its anchors made some alleged disparaging remarks against Left trade union leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Elamaram Kareem. Satheesan was reportedly unhappy over the INTUC's support for CPM leader Elamaram Kareem over an issue pertaining to the national strike.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
