State Tourism Department invites residents to set up homestays, boosting local tourism and offering authentic cultural experiences to visitors.

In an attempt to boost local tourism and provide visitors an authentic cultural experience, the State Tourism Department is now inviting applications from residents who are interested in setting up homestay facilities in the city.

Although the concept of homestays is already popular across many parts of the country, the State government is now focusing on the initiative to tap into the region’s tourism potential. With this initiative, the locals now have the opportunity to become a part of the tourism economy by offering proper accommodation options to the tourists.

As per an official release from the department, individuals can register to establish homestay facilities ranging from single-bedroom unit to six bedrooms.

Those interested in participating in the homestay programme are encouraged to register through https://nidhi.tourism.gov.in and APTA website https://aptourism.gov.in/trades/login/#firm_registeration

Ms. Madhavi from the District Tourism Department said that since the recent notice regarding homestay operations was issued, there has been a positive response from the public. The department has been receiving several enquiries, indicating the growing interest among the citizens.

She also said that the department is planning to conduct an awareness programme with the help of trained resource persons to the interested persons, explaining them the government’s guidelines for operating homestays.
