
Tomatoes to be sold at minimal prices in ‘Pannai Pasumai’ shops, says Tamil Nadu Minister Periyasamy

Tomato prices across Tamil Nadu have touched Rs 100 in several parts of the state. The Tamil Nadu minister announced that tomatoes would be sold at minimal prices in ‘Pannai Pasumai Shops’.
Tomato prices across Tamil Nadu have touched Rs 100 in several parts of the state. They are being sold for up to Rs 120 per kg in many parts of Tamil Nadu.
Wholesale prices of tomatoes in Chennai were Rs 80-95, which is likely to increase owing to the rains in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Minister of Co-operation for Tamil Nadu, Periyasamy announced that tomatoes would be sold at minimal prices in ‘Pannai Pasumai Shops’.
He said, ‘’These shops will sell tomatoes at a lesser price. The prices are set between Rs 70-85 per kg. If required, steps will also be taken to sell tomatoes at ration shops too.’’
In other news, tomato prices have also hiked in Delhi amid the heatwave. The tomato rates are nearly 400 per cent higher than in previous years, according to the wholesale and retail vegetable sellers. It is being sold at Rs 65-80 per kg this year, by retailers.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
