Tamil Nadu CM M. K. Stalin visits Kerala to inaugurate Thanthai Periyar memorial, symbolizing fight against social inequality.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, who arrived at the Cochin international airport on Wednesday (December 11, 2024) morning, was given a warm reception by a team of State officials led by Ernakulam District Collector N.S.K. Umesh.
Mr. Stalin is in Kerala to inaugurate the renovated Thanthai Periyar memorial in Vaikom, near Kochi on Thursday, along with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Vaikom is a famous temple town about 35 km south of Kochi.
The memorial celebrates one of India’s most renowned fight by common people against social inequality and untouchability forcing the custodians of the famous Vaikom temple to open the doors to the common people.
E. V. Ramasami Naiker participated in the Vaikom Satyagraha, launched on March 30, 2024 and the Vaikom town memorial is a recollection of those tumultuous days.
