
TMC students' wing files complaint against BJP MPs over 'separate state' demand

The students' wing of Trinamool Congress has filed a complaint at Bhowanipore police station in South Kolkata against BJP MPs over demanding separate statehood for North Bengal and Jangal Mahal.
A complaint has been filed by the Trinmool Chhartra Parishad (TMCP) at Bhowanipore police station in South Kolkata against BJP MP Soumitra Khan and John Barla for their statement demanding separate statehood for North Bengal and Jungle Mahal. The complaint was filed on Monday. The FIR stated: “We the members of Trinamool Chhatra Parishad beg to the state that we are very much offended by the statements given by BJP MP of Alipurduar John Barla and BJP MP of Bishnupur Soumitra Khan that they demand statehood of Jungle Mahal and North Bengal."
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
