Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Aparupa Poddar attacked BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Twitter by calling him names. In a now deleted tweet, Poddar said Ghosh doesn’t realise that “mothers and sisters of Bengal are our pride”. Poddar’s comment comes amidst the controversy over Ghosh questioning West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s lineage.
At the India Today Conclave East on July 6, Dilip Ghosh said, "In Bengal, Mamata Banerjee calls herself daughter of Bengal, in Goa she calls herself daughter of Goa. What about her lineage?"
While speaking at a function in her parliamentary constituency on Saturday, Poddar said, "Dilip Ghosh needs to be sent to the Rachi insane asylum immediately." She said that Dilip Ghosh is now suffering from frustration as he does not get respect in his own party - either in Delhi or in Bengal.
Reacting to the MP’s attack, Dilip hit back saying, “It is nothing but a competition to show who is more loyal. We all know how much we respect women. If they really respect women, they would have supported Droupadi Murmu as the presidential candidate. Mean-minded people use bad words; there is nothing to worry about.”
On July 7, a delegation of the Trinamool Congress comprising Kunal Ghosh, Shashi Panja, Tapas Roy, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Nayana Bandyopadhyay, Sajda Ahmed and Mala Roy met Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and called for 'harsh punishment' for BJP's Dilip Ghosh for remark on CM Mamata Banerjee.
A police complaint was also lodged against Ghosh for his remark on Mamata Banerjee.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

India's original Dhurandhar, Ravindra Kaushik, rose from acting at college theatres, to infiltrating the Pakistan Army as a RAW Agent. He provided critical intelligence on Pakistani troop movements and the country's nuclear programme, but died a lonely death after his betrayal and subsequent capture by the ISI.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
