Tiruchi Railway Division surpasses 10 million tonnes in freight loading for third year in a row

The Tiruchi Railway Division has achieved a milestone in freight loading by surpassing 10 million tonnes for the third consecutive year. This milestone was achieved in 257 days from April 1 to December 13 during the current fiscal generating a revenue of ₹544.85 crore in this period.

The Division recorded impressive growth across multiple commodities with coal loading emerging on top. Coal loading was 7.812 million tonnes registering a 4% increase over the same period last fiscal.  Iron ore, foodgrain, cement, fertiliser, container, and other goods were loaded in the division. The division recorded a 3% growth in freight loading during this fiscal. 

The division organised a Business Development Meet on Wednesday which saw the participation of 11 major customers, including Adani Karaikal Port Pvt. Ltd., Karaikal, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd., Dalmia Cements (B) Ltd, Dalmiapuram, India Cements, Ichchangadu, The Ramco Cements, Ariyalur, and Ichchangadu, Chettinad Cements Corporation, Sillakudi, and the Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation. 

Tiruchi Divisional Railway Manager M.S. Anbalagan encouraged the freight customers to strengthen their support by increasing freight loading volumes which would play a key role in surpassing the remaining targets for this fiscal. 

During the meeting, the customers shared their loading plans and discussed operational issues requiring attention. Mr. Anbalagan assured the customers that their concerns would be resolved promptly and within the framework of rules to ensure seamless freight movement, a press release from the Tiruchi Division said.
