Time Magazine Cover Flames Trump's Anti-Immigrant Crusade

Time Magazine's cover used an icon of freedom to make a statement about the president's deportation project.
Time Magazine’s new cover depicts a bellowing Donald Trump as the flame of Lady Liberty for a story about the president’s deportation crusade.
In the issue dated June 23, the animated sketch has Trump’s hair on fire as he screams atop the iconic torch.
The headline to the cover story reads rather innocuously, “Inside Donald Trump’s Mass-Deportation Operation.” But the article details the extremes to which his administration has gone to expel migrants ― from revoking their temporary legal status to expanding ICE roundups to coercing cities to cooperate.
Trump’s vision appeared to take another ugly turn with reported plans of a detention center in Florida dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” because those trying to escape could encounter alligators in the surrounding Everglades.
Israel and the United States’ fight against Iran has taken up headlines in recent days, but the deportations haven’t been relegated to the administration’s back burner by any means.
