Three gangsters and a shootout in Chitrakoot jail

Gangster Mukim Kala was among three killed in a shootout at a jail in Uttar Pradesh's Chitrakoot on Friday. MLA Mukhtar Ansari's aide Merajuddin, too, was killed.

If you watched the Amazon web series 'Paatal Lok', you are familiar with Chitrakoot in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. Chitrakoot has historical and religious significance, but in the modern era, it's been the notorious playground of bandits. But on Friday, it hit the headlines for a different reason. Shootouts in jails are not common even in the badlands. But a notorious gangster managed to lay his hands on a firearm in the jail and shot two inmates, including another notorious gangster. The jail guards swung into action and the shooter, Anshu Dixit, fired at them too but was killed the next moment.
