Three arrested in Telangana for forcing minor girl to illegally terminate pregnancy

A truck driver, his father and their aide were arrested for forcing a 16-year-old girl to medically terminate her pregnancy after 6 months at a private hospital in Telangana’s Ibrahimpatnam. The trucker, who belongs to the same village as the victim, had sexually exploited her.
Three men were arrested by Nalgonda Police in Telangana after they illegally terminated the pregnancy of a 16-year-old girl at a hospital in Ibrahimpatnam. The three arrested are a truck driver, his father and one of their aides. The trucker, who belonged to the same village as the girl, had sexually exploited her and gotten her pregnant six months ago.
After he realised that the girl was pregnant, the accused, with the help of his family members, took the girl to a private hospital and forced her to illegally terminate the pregnancy.
The incident came to light when the girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the police on May 5, reported the Times of India.
The complaint stated that the 25-year-old trucker had sexually exploited the girl and that in the sixth month of her pregnancy, the accused took her to a hospital where she was confined and her pregnancy was medically terminated.
Based on the complaint, Nalgonda Police arrested the three people and sent them to judicial custody.
During the initial probe, police found out that the accused had made the girl take pills to terminate her pregnancy. But when her health deteriorated, the accused, his father and their aide, took her to a private hospital in Ibrahimpatnam.
Marriguda sub-inspector (SI), Venkat Reddy, said that the girl had turned critical after heavy bleeding. “Doctors in the hospital claimed that they had to terminate the pregnancy to save the girl,” said the SI.
