Citing renewed life threats after the Supreme Court's criticism, suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has once again moved the top court. She has sought protection from arrest and clubbing of all the FIRs against her that were registered because of her remarks on Prophet Mohammad.
Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma has once again approached the Supreme Court seeking protection from arrest in multiple cases filed against her over her remarks on Prophet Mohammad. Nupur Sharma has cited that she has been facing death and rape threats after the SC came down heavily upon her when she had approached the court to club all the pending FIRs against her.
Nupur Sharma's plea will be heard by the same bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice JB Pardiwala that had strongly criticised her for her remarks on a national TV debate.
Earlier this month, Nupur Sharma had requested the bench to club all the FIRs pending against her in the country. But the top court had refused to grant relief to her and slammed her over her televised remarks on Prophet Muhammad, saying that she is single-handedly responsible for the unrest in the country.
On Monday evening, Sharma moved the apex court and sought expunction of remarks made by the court on July 1. She is facing nine FIRs against her for her remarks on the Prophet Mohammad.
In her petition, Nupur Sharma said that after the SC's criticism against her comments, she has been facing rape and death threats. In her petition, she pleaded for clubbing the FIRs in Delhi.
