
Thousands protest in support of Agra Mufti charged with disrespect of the tricolour

Thousands demonstrated at the Royal Jama Masjid on Thursday in support of Agra Mufti, who has dubbed the hoisting of the national flag an anti-Islamic act.
Following India Today's report on the escalating tensions in Agra over the criminal case filed against Agra Mufti Rumi, the local authorities became more vigilant and managed to prevent a communal crisis in the city. A large crowd gathered at the Royal Jama Masjid on Thursday morning and marched to the collectorate, demanding the arrest of Islamia Local Agency President Aslam Qureshi, who had filed an FIR against the Mufti.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
