Thoothukudi Mayor promises to prevent stagnation of rainwater on vacant plots

Thoothukudi Mayor addresses rainwater stagnation issue in vacant plots, takes action to prevent water accumulation in the city.
Thoothukudi Mayor, P. Jegan, has assured that action would be taken to prevent stagnation of rainwater on vacant plots.
While participating in the West Zone public grievances redressal meeting here on Wednesday, he said that the rain reported in the city on November 20 had led to water stagnation in some places in the West Zone. However, efforts were taken to drain the stagnant water immediately.
Stating that the zone had lot of vacant plots, the Mayor said that rainwater stagnating in those plots was draining into other areas also and affecting people.
Some 500 owners of the plots have been identified and they have been told to raise the ground level in their plots to avoid stagnation of water.
West Zone Chairperson, Annalakshmi, Assistant Commissioners, Balamurugan, Irwin Jebaraj, and Executive Engineer (Planning), Renganathan, were present.
