Runners-up of 2015 Miss India contest, Diksha Singh, is all set to take the political plunge. Diksha Singh has decided to contest the District Panchayat election from Ward No. 26 of Baksha Development Block of Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district.

Diksha Singh has decided to contest the district panchayat election from Ward No. 26 of Baksha Development Block of Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district. The reason behind Diksha's entry into politics is the district panchayat seat that her father was preparing to contest on, but has now been reserved for women. Diksha's father was preparing to contest the district panchayat poll from this seat for a long time, however, the seat has been reserved for women at the last moment, prompting Diksha to contest the poll.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
