
Thieves posing as Irrigation dept officers steal 60-foot iron bridge in Bihar

Thieves, posing as Irrigation department officials, stole a 60-foot, 500 tonne bridge from Bihar’s Rohtas district in broad daylight. They also took the help of the local departmental personnel. A complaint has been filed in this matter.
Thieves, posing as irrigation department officials, stole an old 60-foot, 500 tonne bridge in Amiyawar in Nasriganj the Rohtas district of Bihar.
The thieves, posing as officers, and with the help of bulldozers and gas cutters, cut and uprooted the entire bridge and loaded it onto vehicles.
The old, dilapidated bridge was built on the Ara Canal in 1972. The thieves pretended to be officials of the Irrigation Department and also took the help of local departmental personnel. They stole the entire bridge in broad daylight.
An official said that the thieves had come with full preparation posing as an officer of the Irrigation Department. People did not use this iron bridge, which had been dilapidated for many decades. The villagers had also applied for the removal of this bridge.
When the iron bridge, about 60 feet long and 12 feet high, was stolen, the villagers and the department understood that they had been duped. After that, the departmental officers filed a case in the police station.
Junior Engineer of Irrigation Department Arshad Kamal Shamsi said that a complaint has been lodged in this matter.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
