
Thieves break wall to enter bank in Delhi, steal Rs 55 lakh

On Sunday night, a group of men entered an under-construction building next to a bank in northeast Delhi. They broke a wall, entered the bank and stole Rs 55 lakh.
A group of men entered an under-construction building neighbouring a bank in northeast Delhi's Farsh Bazar area near Shahdara on Sunday night. They then broke a wall to enter the bank and stole Rs 55 lakh. The thieves opened the safe of the bank using a gas cutter. On Monday morning, the employees of the bank found the safe cut open and cash missing. As per bank officials, at least Rs 55 lakh which was deposited on Friday and Saturday was gone. The bank was closed on Sunday and, hence, the police believe the robbery took place on Sunday night. The accused have not yet been identified and traced.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
