Mangaluru Police Commissioner vows relentless pursuit of murder suspects, praising officers' efforts in arresting long-absconding criminals.
Indirectly referring to the recent murder of crime accused Arif Hussain in Ullal, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy said that there will not be any let-up in efforts to trace the culprits.
“The city police will not allow this incident to slow down the work of catching absconding accused and execution of non-bailable warrants, which the police of the region are doing exceptionally well,” he said at the Police Flag and Welfare Day programme organised jointly by Mangaluru City Police, Dakshina Kannada police and KSRP 7th Battalion at the District Armed Reserve Ground in Mangaluru on April 2.
Mr. Reddy said, “There is clear instruction from my side to trace and arrest the actual accused persons.” Stating that it is not in the hands of the police to prevent any crime, he said, “What is important is to catch the culprits and book them for the crime. The accused should be afraid of the law.”
Referring to Arif Hussain’s murder on March 27, Mr. Reddy said, “One rowdy-sheeter murdering another will not change the way we are policing. Twenty police personnel are enough to catch the accused. We are confident of catching the accused (who are on the run). The remaining personnel will continue with regular policing work.”
Mr. Reddy lauded personnel from city and Dakshina Kannada district units for exceptional work of arresting accused absconding for a long time, and also in execution of non-bailable warrants on accused who failed to appear before courts for a long time.
“No other police unit in Karnataka has done such work,” he said and called upon the personnel to continue doing their work in a manner that makes people proud.
