Chevayur police arrest Malappuram native attempting to steal money from ATM in Kozhikode city, caught in the act.
The Chevayur police on Thursday (February 13, 2025) arrested a Malappuram native who allegedly tried to cart off money from an ATM at Parambil Kadavu in Kozhikode city. The suspect, identified as Vijesh of Othukkungal, was taken into custody by a flying squad on night patrol around 2.30 a.m.
Police sources said the 37-year-old carried a cutter to break the ATM machine that belonged to a private ATM service provider. The flying squad stopped the vehicle in front of the ATM after noticing some suspicious movements inside the counter. When they entered the counter, the youth was allegedly trying to break the machine using the gas cutter.
Police sources said the youth had attempted to threaten the flying squad and escape from the spot. He was taken into custody with the support of more police officers who reached the spot from Chevayur station.
