Thanjavur student suicide: 12 arrested ABVP cadres gave fake names, phone numbers; TN police files fresh case

Tamil Nadu police arrested 32 ABVP cadres for protesting outside MK Stalin’s house, over the Thanjavur student suicide. Police discovered that 12 cadres provided false information, including names, phone numbers and addresses.
The Tamil Nadu police had arrested 32 Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) cadres for protesting outside CM MK Stalin’s house. Now, police have discovered that of the 32 arrested, 12 people had provided wrong information to the police.
This was found out when the bail application came up for hearing in the Chennai Magistrate Court. BJP Legal Wing head, Paul Kanagaraj, who appeared for the cadres, gave an explanation stating that some of the cadres had given their pseudonyms by mistake.
But, Teynampet police filed a fresh case against them for providing false information.
The cadres were arrested for holding a protest demanding justice for the Thanjavur student suicide case outside CM Stalin's residence, breaching security protocol.
Meanwhile, Dr Subbiah, Head of Surgical Oncology at Kilpauk Medical College was placed under suspension after visiting the arrested ABVP cadres in prison. Dr Subbiah was a former President of the ABVP.
He was arrested for allegedly playing a part in instigating the ABVP cadres to protest outside CM Stalin's residence.
