
Thane cops accused of ‘robbing’ businessman of Rs 6 crore after raid, probe ordered

Four Mumbra policemen have been accused of “robbing” a Thane businessman of Rs 6 crore after a raid at the latter’s house.
Four Thane cops, including a senior police inspector, have been accused of “robbing” a businessman of Rs 6 crore. The Thane Police Commissioner has ordered an inquiry into the allegation.
According to the complaint sent to Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse PAtil and Thane Police Commissioner Jaijit Singh, it has been alleged that the policemen recovered Rs 30 crore from the businessman, identified as Faizal Memon. After the businessman requested the officials to return his money, claiming that it was his hard-earned money, the policemen allegedly returned Rs 24 crore to the businessman, while keeping Rs 6 crore for themselves.
The complainant, identified as Shaikh Ibrahim Pasha, alleged that on the midnight of April 12 ,the Police Inspector (crime ) of Mumbra Police station, along with two police sub inspectors, some staff of the police station, and three private persons raided Faizal Memon's residence.

Memon's residence is in Bombay Colony in Mumbra. The police allegedly found thirty boxes with Rs 1 crore packed in each box at Memon’s residence. All the boxes were then taken to the Mumbra Police station in the Senior Police' Inspectors cabin.
At the police station, Police Inspector Shevale started questioned Memon about where he got the money from.
According to the complainant, Memon pleaded and said that it was all his hard-earned money, but Shevale and his juniors did not listen and even abused and assaulted him.
