
Tensions run high along Assam-Mizoram border after grenade explosions

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam Police has been deployed along the state's borders with Mizoram and Nagaland to protect Assam's constitutional boundary.
Tension has erupted along the Assam-Mizoram border again after two more grenade explosions jolted Dholakhal in Assam’s Cachar district in the last 24 hours. The Dholakhal village is located along the inter-state border of Assam and Mizoram. No human casualties have been reported as a result of the explosions as of yet. The developments come days after the chief secretaries of Assam and Mizoram held a meeting over the inter-state border dispute.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.
