Telangana shivers as temperatures drop below 10°C in 27 districts, with Hyderabad hitting 9.7°C, cold wave persisted in Adilabad.
Telangana continues to record chilly temperatures with temperatures plummeting across the State. On Monday (December 16, 2024), 27 out of the 33 districts recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C. Hyderabad, the State capital, experienced a chilly morning with the mercury dropping to 9.7°C, as per data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).
The lowest temperatures in the State were recorded in Nirmal and Adilabad, where the minimum touched 6.3°C. Sangareddy followed closely at 6.6°C, while Rangareddy, Vikarabad, and Kumaram Bheem Asifabad reported 6.7°C. Siddipet and Kamareddy were not far behind, each recording 6.9°C.
Other districts also witnessed biting cold with Medak at 7.1°C, Medchal-Malkajgiri at 7.2°C, and Jagtial at 7.3°C. Temperatures in Nizamabad and Rajanna Sircilla settled at 7.5°C, while Mancherial reported 7.9°C. Hanamkonda (8°C), Mulugu (8.4°C), Warangal (8.5°C), and Mahabubnagar, Peddapalli, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally (8.6°C) recorded slightly higher but still chilly conditions.
Narayanpet and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri each reported 9°C, while Karimnagar recorded 9.2°C. Temperatures hovered around 9.6°C in Nagarkurnool and 9.7°C in Jangaon and Mahabubabad.
Six districts managed to escape the below 10°C temperatures , including Nalgonda (10.1°C), Bhadradri Kothagudem (10.4°C), Khammam (10.7°C), Suryapet (11.3°C), Jogulamba Gadwal (11.5°C), and Wanaparthy (12.3°C).
Meanwhile, severe cold wave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in Adilabad district, according to India Meteorological Department’s bulletin issued on Sunday (December 15, 2024). It has also forecasted cold wave conditions at isolated pockets in Adilabad and Kumuram Bheem Asifabad districts for Monday (December 16, 2024). Partly cloudy skies over Hyderabad was forecasted. Mist or haze is expected to persist during the morning hours, with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to hover around 29°C and 12°C, respectively.
