Telangana Deputy CM plans to address disparities in fund allocation by Centre in upcoming Parliament session.
Stating that Telangana is not being treated fairly by the Centre in terms of allocation of funds and projects, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced plans to move an adjournment motion in addition to raising the issue during the Zero hour, Question hour and under Rule 377 during the upcoming Parliament session to discuss disparities in fund and project allocations.
In a media briefing after the all-party MP meeting held at Praja Bhavan on Saturday (March 8, 2025), Mr. Vikramarka said that the meeting discussed issues related to funds and projects requiring central assistance, which the Centre has neglected for the past decade.
“We fought for the creation of the separate State hoping that the people of Telangana live with pride, but we failed to receive benefits from the Centre. The previous BRS government failed to ensure that the state received the necessary funds,” he added.
Mr. Vikramarka emphasised that they would raise these issues in the upcoming Parliament session to bring them to the Central government’s notice. He also announced plans to move an adjournment motion to draw the Centre’s attention, as favoured by the MPs who attended the meeting.
Regarding the absence of BJP and BRS MPs from the all-party meeting, Vikramarka said, “If they claim they were not informed in advance, we will ensure they are notified a week prior to the next meeting. I will personally visit them and request their attendance.”
The all-party MP meeting discussed 28 issues, including projects like Metro Phase-2, Regional Ring Road (RRR), and AMRUT funds for Godavari Phase 2, which require central assistance. Mr. Vikramarka mentioned that a booklet has been prepared detailing their correspondence with the Centre, including letters and representations seeking funds.
AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who attended the meeting, criticised the Centre for its alleged “stepmotherly treatment” towards Telangana regarding fund and project allocations. Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy said that they had met the Central ministers and officials several times seeking funds for the state in the last 15 months.
